A new Harris-Decima poll puts Liberals and Tories in dead heat, with opposition making inroads in key battlegrounds. Overall the two parties are tied at 32 per cent. But Harris-Decima chairman Allan Gregg says the real story lies below the headline numbers.
“What you have on the surface is a dead heat, but if you dig a little deeper, what you see is that the Liberals are clearly making some inroads into key, battleground constituencies.”
“They are emerging as the federalist default option to the BQ in the province of Quebec, they are ahead in Ontario for the first time since September.”
He observed that Harper's decision to prorogue Parliament has added to what has always been a character issue. In terms of his leadership rating, "Harper basically took a 14-point hit between fall and post-prorogation.”
Keep it up Canadians! Let him know what we think and we may soon be rid of this dictator.

Yes, let's have the Liberals back in power. We all remember the high points of Parliamentary democracy under Jean Chretien or Paul Martin's fixing the democractic deficit. Or Trudeau's nobodies.
Alex,
I'm glad to see that you've finally seen the light! I too voted for Harper in 2006 for the reason you mentioned but, unlike you, I have come to see the need to rein in the Harperites just as we reined in the Liberals then.
Justifying Harper's arrogance and disdain for Parliament by citing some misdeeds of the Liberals earlier is grasping at straws...
I hadn't realized you'd voted Conservative then. Me too. Exactly the way I feel. I'm not exactly ABC, but I can hold my nose about the Liberals now, at least for awhile, to get Harper out, hopefully never to return.
My point is I don't feel any great rush to throw the bum out because I doubt Iggy or Rae will be any better than Harper who's become the prime minister who didn't grow in the job. Like Joe Clark, and Martin he's never understood it's not just a minority government, it's a minority Parliament.
What the polls are showing is that people see Harper in a whole other category: a man who disdains everyone and every institution in Canada that won’t bend to his will. This is not a matter of simple incompetence and greed (the two resources Canadian politicians always have in surplus), but a much deeper threat. It ain’t that he doesn’t understand he’s got a minority government or a minority Parliament, but that he’s seen to claim a majority of one, and Parliament be damned (and same to impartial Courts, an impartial civil service, an impartial police force...). I think people are willing to put up with human faults, but this is something beyond.
He is in the process of digging himself a deep grave in Québec with negative comments about Québec and greenhouse gas reduction. Great!
Harper's a Grade A asshole but I don't buy that he's the great threat you guys do. The opposition could take him down anytime they want. And speaking of thugs and crooks, I'm just as leery of having the Libs back in power.
